We make a difference to people living in British Columbia — one worker, one employer, one workplace at a time. That’s Our Promise. Every day, the work we do as an organization impacts people and changes lives. What we do is important and so are the people we do it for. Our Promise is rooted in our history. Since 1917, WorkSafeBC has strived to improve the health and safety of workplaces across our province, and to help people during some of the most difficult times of their lives. Today, we continue to work in partnership with others to create safer workplaces by promoting health and safety, consulting, educating, enforcing, and investigating. We support injured workers, provide compensation, facilitate recovery and safe return to work, and reduce disability. We run a no-fault insurance system that supports both workers and employers, and we work to sustain the compensation system for generations to come. We recognize that our successes as an organization are collective successes, involving the efforts of every employee, no matter what part of the organization they work in. And we know the best way to achieve success as an organization is to make sure our employees are set up to succeed as individuals. To do that, we provide a supportive environment with numerous opportunities for professional growth, and substantial training and educational programs. But it’s about more than job-specific training. We’re also serious about engaging our employees, whether through personal training and development, opportunities for giving feedback, getting involved in their communities, or organizing and participating in health and wellness or other lifestyle initiatives. We are committed to making sure every member of our team has the knowledge, skills, and abilities to make success possible — to be empowered to make a positive difference in the lives of workers and employers in B.C.
