Pros
Employees who bring real value - they know who they are- Not the leadership anyway
Cons
I’ll start with a heads-up to all readers: all messages posted here are monitored by Nova Chemicals HR. Once they detect a wave of negative comments, they typically start posting fake positive ones to influence perception. So, as a reader, you’ll have to judge for yourself which comments are genuine and which are not. Now, back to the topic: Nova Chemicals This company has seen better days, but unfortunately, over the past 3–4 years, things have taken a drastic turn for the worse. It underwent a so-called "business improvement process" which has, in reality, been damaging to both the business and its employees. It crushed whatever hope remained among those still loyal to the company. Following this initiative, Nova's leadership attempted to assess the company’s health through a survey. Unsurprisingly, the results revealed a significant lack of confidence in the company's direction—particularly when compared to its peers. N.C. ranked in the bottom quartile across all of the survey themes, with leadership scoring especially low. In response, leadership focused on superficial morale boosters—like handing out doughnuts and candies—without making any meaningful structural changes. As expected, two subsequent surveys showed no significant improvement after roughly 2.5 years of ineffective management. Currently, Nova is plagued by an overabundance of low-value, ego-driven leaders who are steering the company further into decline. The only viable path forward appears to be a takeover, followed by a complete overhaul of leadership—especially those roles created within the past 2–3 years.
