Poor Management Can Ruin an Otherwise Good Workplace

Pros

*Friendly and supportive coworkers *Work is manageable and not overly stressful

Cons

The company overall has a friendly environment, and many employees are kind and supportive. The workload itself is manageable and not overly stressful, which makes the workplace enjoyable in many ways. However, one manager can completely change the employee experience. In my experience, the management style was heavily based on micromanagement, with very Zero openness to feedback or different opinions. Decisions often felt driven by personal feelings rather than fairness or professionalism, and there was a noticeable lack of empathy toward team members. I also felt there was limited openness toward people from different cultural backgrounds or perspectives. Some employees seemed less accepted or valued, which made the environment feel exclusionary at times. Unfortunately, the leadership approach did not feel suitable for a management role. Many employees under this manager seemed unhappy with the management style, but because it was constantly presented as “the company’s way,” people often felt they had no choice but to accept it as the overall culture of the organization. - The feedback or disagreement was often taken personally. Even respectful concerns or comments could quickly become about how “hurt” the manager felt, instead of addressing the actual issue being raised. Over time, she made employees hesitant to communicate honestly or share feedback openly. Instead of creating a supportive environment, the focus often felt more controlling and unnecessarily stressful despite the nature of the work itself not being highly demanding. Communication and employee concerns were not handled well, and assumptions were sometimes made about employees without proper understanding. This negatively affected morale and trust within the team.

Pros

Nothing - they squeeze everything out of you and it’s still not good enough. The “CEO” doesn’t care about the workers that sell glasses or the associates that do the dirty work for the Doctors. They make all the money while the “patient service specialists” and the “optical associates” make hundreds of thousands a year for this greedy company and get paid pennies. I’ve personally seen what the workers sell in a month and it’s more than their yearly wage… they also made employees make positive reviews on glassdoor and indeed (our clinic did this) and were promised a pizza party if all of us did it (illegal to make employees do that, and we also never got a pizza party (didn’t care anyways ) )..

Cons

They will take every single skill you have and run it into the ground. You’ll be left mentally and physically drained, The doctors make all the money while you make scraps - it’s disgusting how low they pay.
