Can you be happy for 100 days in a row?
Here at Glassdoor, we're taking the challenge to be happy every day at work. For 100 days, we'll be sharing photos of what made us happy at work that day using the hashtag #100HappyDaysAtWork on our Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages.
What is #100HappyDays?
#100HappyDays is a campaign that emerged to force people to take time out of their busy, work-filled days to be happy and recognize what makes them happy in their daily lives. Let's face it - working full-time at any job, in any company can be a busy, stressful business. And the busier and busier people get, the less time they have to stop throughout the day and appreciate the little things that make them smile. Around 71% of people who initially tried the #100HappyDays challenge failed to complete it due to "lack of time". Our question is this: If you don't have time to be happy, what do you have time for?
When we saw this statistic, we were appalled. People really don't have a free minute to post on Instagram? So, we decided to put ourselves to the test and take the challenge. We hope you'll follow along with our journey using the hashtag #100HappyDaysAtWork!
What can you do to get involved?
Follow the Glassdoor for Employers Twitter and Instagram channels. We'll be updating you every day with what makes us happy here at Glassdoor. We encourage you to follow along with what makes us happy and use the hashtag #100HappyDaysAtWork to join the conversation. Get your employees involved, too! You can build your employer brand by participating in social media challenges like #100HappyDays. We will also be picking one winning company that has really made the most of the #100HappyDaysAtWork challenge and will be featuring them as a best practice in our future employer branding and employee engagement collateral.
Here are some tips to get your employees involved and excited to share what makes them happy at work:
- Make sure your benefits and office perks are updated and in check. With the launch of our newly released benefits feature on Glassdoor, we've had benefits on the brain. Do you know how your benefits package stacks up against your competition? Employees care about a lot more than just salary these days - they want to come to work to feel valued and important. Perks like catered lunches, the option to work from home, unlimited PTO and a dog-friendly office are great benefits to share in the #100HappyDays challenge. I know our employees at Glassdoor love their perks, so find unique things to point out that your employees would be "happy" to share.
- Communicate your plan with your employees. At Glassdoor, we've found that communicating your plan with your employees and being transparent about what you'll need from them in order to be successful is always the best way to go. And guess what? When employees are happy at work, they are more productive and likely to share their experiences with others. Employees like to feel entrusted to share your company's message and can best relay the advantages of working there - they are your brand ambassadors, after all.
- Join a larger conversation! While you should be using social media challenges like this to broadcast your employer brand, also use it to become a part of a much larger conversation. Reach out to other people using the hashtag #100HappyDaysAtWork and start a conversation about what makes your employees happy to work with you every day. People love seeing what other people's work environments are like compared to their own.
