being in public accounting feels like being in an abusive relationship
“A Skills Gap Is Turning Cleaning for the Rich Into a $100,000 Job As the wealthy get wealthier and fuel a boom in luxury furnishings, highly trained household staff are in high demand.” Why are all these jobs no college degree paying as much as accountants or more ? Accountants keep getting the short end of the stick
Has anyone taken a mental health/stress leave and are they paid? I am suffering but can’t afford not having a paycheck.
Does anyone here have student loan debt? If so, how much? How old are you, and how long have you been in public accounting? PwC EY KPMG Deloitte
I’ve been working remotely 98% of the time since the pandemic started. I changed firms 3 years ago to one more local so I could go in sometimes and found that I was happier, more engaged, etc when going in. I did well for 6ish months then fell back into the loop of rolling out of bed, turning on music and starting working at home then never going in despite knowing I need the scenery change/interaction. I’m a director so it’s kind of a bad look. Any tips on how to motivate myself to go in?
CFO sent out a memo saying we, as a company, need to start leveraging AI better. No further information on how to do this or why using AI is so important. I guess I don't get the point of this request, what am I missing? Because I'm just sitting here feeling confused and weirdly icky.
Totally agree. My friends say that I sound like I'm in an abusive relationship when I talk about work.
I think of my team as the kids that were born in the process and now I feel forced to stay for the sake of their futures
Ha ha and once a month you have to deal with a "."
Funny how the people who complain the most are the ones that stick around. The reality is that PA is not the only accounting jobs that exist. If it’s that bad then why not leave? Guessing because you haven’t been offered anything better within your current comp range and if that’s the case is it really that bad?
So what months is time off allowed?
Definitely a bit of masochism
💯
Second that.
