I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Backbase (Toronto, ON)
Interview
I was approached by a recruiter from backbase about a potential contract role. The recruiter himself was very professional and pleasant to talk to. I was asked if I have code to share which I did, I got a reply that the team was impressed by the code and want to schedule an in person interview/
That is where the so far pleasant experience ends.
I went to a technical interview with one tech interviewer - and I am a solid experienced engineer, - the whole interview I was talked down to and corrected with info that is mostly wrong from a technical perspective. Yet when I politely denied the wrong corrections, I was answered in a way that only the interviewer knows what they are talking about.
I emailed the recruiter post interview, said I have NO (zero) further interest in moving forward and gave feedback in case they care about feedback. I even mention the wrong technical corrections I received in the interview and provided links to support it.
Two days later, I receive a generic email from BackBase saying they decided not to move forward as they are looking for someone with expertise in their tech stack (hilarious).
Not only the interview was insulting, they went further to display a weak hiring process by acting like if they are the ones saying no to me. This is super unprofessional and childish. Weirdest hiring process i've been to and I've been to many.
