I am highly experienced estimator with 8+ years in the field. I was recruited by a fellow employee. I met the part-owner at a restaurant for a quick meeting, then we spoke on the phone a couple times discussing process. Covid-19 hit and I had to wait about 3 weeks before we discussed anything else again. I met him again to discuss an agreed salary. We came to an agreed number and he told me he'd get back with me. I never heard from him again. I was told numerous times, he needed me and he wanted me there. Needless to say it was unprofessional from the start. I had really high hopes I'd become a team player and I would do my very best and give it my all, but I wasn't given the chance. I was left without any word. Not sure who owns this branch, but I wish there was more HR. I reported declined because when we agreed on a price, he pretty much left me hanging. I told him, I wasn't leaving my current job for the same pay with less benefits. Right now, I get pay + commission + health, dental and vision insurance. When we discussed this, he said that it would be NO PROBLEM to bump my pay up so that I can pay health insurance for me and my daughter. I was stoked! I was ready and unfortunately the sad truth was, he didn't want to pay for his manager to have health insurance. Im guessing because like I said, I was left high and dry with no answer or no explanation as to why I didn't get hired. As of right now, its been 2 weeks with no phone call to follow. I am disappointed. Truth be told, if I was called and told when I could start, I would decline, because of how much wishy washy stuff I went through with the hiring process, I cant imagine a day to day there.
