I applied for a senior comms role with the Church of England and was shortlisted for interview. The panel discussion was thoughtful, and the role was clearly important and worthwhile. However, I was told I’d hear back by the end of the week—and never received any formal notification, even after I followed up directly. I only learned I was unsuccessful via the application portal. No feedback whatsoever despite my polite request.
For a role centred on communications and engagement, the process itself didn’t reflect the values being promoted. I hope this feedback is useful to future applicants and may prompt some reflection internally.
