This was a Contract-to-Hire position through another staffing agency. The interview consisted of an initial phone screen, followed by a Skype interview. Interviewers were the project lead and the project manager. For a Systems Administrator position, the requirements were very basic:
Technical Skills:
- Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, 2000/XP Embedded
- Understanding LAN/WAN topologies, TCP/IP
- SQL Server 2005 & higher
- Server hardware – troubleshooting & assembly, HP Proliant, iLO, BIOS/Firmware, SNMP services.
Soft Skills:
- Time management skills – must be self-motivated and able to multitask.
- Understanding processes and importance of standard operating procedures
- Consistently take ownership over issues; take lead, manage, diffuse and resolve
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
Nice Have’s:
- Certifications; A+ (hardware), MCP/MCSE, CCNA, Network+, DBA, other.
- Knowledge of Bachmann, PLC, NTRON & Hirschmann (HiDiscovery/HiVision)
- Post-Secondary (college/university) degree
- Multilingual (Portugese, French or German)
- Previous experience in SCADA/Industrial Controls, renewable energy environments is an asset
