      Marketing Specialist Interview

      Jan 17, 2026
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Farber Debt Solutions

      Interview

First round was told to meet the manager for an hour but ended up with a panel interview with 2 additional team members and took 1.5hours. Second round was told to meet the VPs but ended up adding a case study before that. Final round was with the VPs. Offer given, then prolonged and unclear decision after counter — very frustrating process Pros: The team members I met were friendly and the role itself was interesting. Cons: I received an offer for the position and later submitted a compensation counter. After that, I was given a clear timeline for when I should expect a response. Unfortunately, that timeline was missed with no communication. Despite multiple follow-ups, I did not receive any clear update for several days. Only after escalating and reaching out directly to the hiring manager did the process move forward, at which point I was told the company could not meet the compensation discussed. By then, I had already completed multiple interview rounds and a detailed case study, investing significant time and effort. The prolonged silence, missed commitments, and lack of transparency made the experience extremely frustrating and unprofessional. Advice to Management: If expectations or timelines change, communicate proactively. Candidates deserve timely updates and respect for the time they invest, especially after receiving an offer and engaging in further negotiations.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Farber Debt Solutions (Toronto, ON) in Jul 2023

      Interview

I regret going through the interview process with them as it was a complete waste of my time. After going through a phone screening, interview with hiring manager and then a final interview with a panel, they were impressed with my years of experience in the industry and wanted me to take more responsibility in the role. They scheduled another meeting with me post-final round to discuss all the projects and launches I would own completely from the beginning in an individual contributor role instead, rather than being in a support role as this Specialist role initially demanded. After confirming I was still interested in the "enhanced" role, they extended a VERBAL offer in line within the initial salary range provided in the screening round before the scope changed. However, with the increased scope, responsibilities and workload they wanted me to take on, I countered and asked for a higher salary to reflect these changes. They then rescinded the offer altogether, saying that the level of ownership and responsibilities have not changed and that they will go with someone else instead. I mentioned the increased scope and workload, but they said that "everyone at Farber is expected to go above and beyond" and that did not mean that the role changed. They were not willing to negotiate whatsoever from my experience.
