I applied online. I interviewed at Gates Foundation in Jun 2016
Interview
At the time of shortlisting I was in Rwanda and the initial shortlist interview was over phone with HR in June 2016 and I was told it will be followed up by second round with the SPO. I was also suggested to ask any known colleague working in the foundation to send a reference note for me. In July 2016, I was informed by HR that I have not been selected for the next round. I was disappointed but have been applying all relevant positions fit to my profile since then. Hoping to get shortlist some day.
It took quite a while and involved many interviews (some with people I didn't ever interact with in the job), but it didn't feel excessively strenuous. There was not a homework assignment, but some questions required talking through a scenario. Because people are spread out, some of the interviews were over video conference which can be awkward.
