      Senior Quantitative Pricing Analyst Interview

      Dec 6, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Sporting Group (London, England) in Nov 2023

      Interview

      - HR phone call - Interview with head of quant team - Take home exercise Interviews themselves were fine, standard introductory questions. Take home exercise supposedly had a task time of 2 hours but I have no idea how this was possible. It involved creating a model with no data provided and unclear instructions. I understand if the objective was to see what assumptions were made but unless you have an intimate knowledge of the sport/already have a model (which wasn't a prerequisite) the research into suitable assumptions to make regarding scoring rates, etc. eats up the time you're supposed to be modelling in and if you choose to scrape this will likely eat into most/all of your modelling time. Actually found setting up a model for a sport I'd not worked in interesting but when I timed myself and sent in an unfinished piece of work (though it was clear how model worked and would turn into prices) I was rejected. Left me feeling like I would have been better off being dishonest and spending a few days on it rather than the *requested* 2 hours.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Don't want to give away the task but effectively - "provide WDW prices for a new type of league within an established sport given these parameters"
