      Director of Product Marketing Interview

      Dec 11, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ThoughtExchange in Nov 2025

      Interview

ThoughtExchange has a compelling mission and, to be fair, the marketing team started off living up to it. They were warm, thoughtful, and genuinely enjoyable to speak with, right up until the moment everything went silent. The real adventure, however, was with the Director of People. Over the course of the process, I experienced: Scheduling invites that didn’t arrive (multiple times). Wrong dates sent out, then corrected, then contradicted. Emails routinely left unanswered unless I followed up, sometimes more than once. Being told by the hiring team/VP of marketing that I was advancing… only for HR to later say the opposite with no explanation. A promised debrief call with the Director of People that simply never happened. No cancellation, no reschedule, not even a “sorry, something came up.” While the marketing team began strong, even they eventually stopped responding when I asked for clarity, which aligned perfectly with the broader theme: communication disappears the moment things get inconvenient. If this is how they treat candidates they claim to be excited about, I can only imagine what internal communication must look like. On the bright side, they’re at least consistent: consistently disorganized, consistently contradictory, and consistently unresponsive. If ThoughtExchange truly wants to live its values around transparency, communication, and respect, the hiring process is the first place to demonstrate them. Unfortunately, the experience showed the opposite. Apply if you’d like a front-row seat to how not to run a hiring process. A process so inconsistent and unprofessional that I cannot recommend applying here. Ever. To anyone.

We appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback. I'm sorry that your experience did not reflect the high standards of candidate experience and communication we strive for at ThoughtExchange. We recently transitioned to a new hiring platform and internal system. Unfortunately, during this migration, we experienced significant scheduling glitches and miscommunications between our hiring managers and the People team. It sounds like you were caught in the middle of those friction points, and for the confusion and frustration that caused, I am truly sorry. I do want to clarify that we attempted to close the loop via phone, and a message was left inviting a further conversation. We regret if that message was missed or felt insufficient given the time you invested. We are actively using your feedback to ensure future candidates have the smooth, welcoming experience we aim to provide. We wish you the very best in your next steps. Lea Scherck VP People
