There is no secret that it is a difficult time for IT now. I was laid off a few months ago, so I have been looking intensively for a job. I have been through many interviews. Some of them were good, but some of them were not that good. However, my experience with Workday certainly stands out. I decided to share it with "brothers in arms." Well, I didn't move past a conversation with the hiring manager, but there is a solid reason for it. Most of the time during our 1-hour interview, he was openly playing with his iPhone texting someone, and even smiling upon reading a message. Once in a while, he lifted his head, looked at me with his innocent blurry eyes, and asked "Sorry, what did you say?". After that, he immediately returned to his exciting and funny texting session. Now I am NOT trying to say I was a perfect fit for this position. I only ask how they know if I am not an ideal fit. Then never gave me a chance. So much for the company, which proclaims empathy and equal opportunity in each communication. Ultimately, it is just the regular corporate indifference we all are used to.
