Pros

Great pay and benefits Growing business

Cons

There are only 3 things you need to be to get promoted here and they have nothing to do with your knowledge, skills or experience. If you are white, French and/or male then you are set for promotion and all the support in the world to progress your career. 1 of 3 gets you in serious consideration, 2 of 3 it’s a pretty secure deal, and 3 of 3 it’s a guarantee. Forget actually having any competence or training for the job itself. The only way you can go wrong is if you dare to criticize the company or anyone of the Agnico lifers. Sadly if you don’t have any of the 3, regardless of how competent you are, your career is unlikely to go anywhere here.

Problems ignored!

Pros

The pay is pretty good when you add everything up. It's a big part of why anyone stays despite everything else. You can find some nice people to work and make good friends.

Cons

The previous comments on here are right -. Agnico has many problems with bullying, discrimination, favortism and bad leadership. They keep promoting people who shouldn't be in leadership positions. Senior management ignores the problems and some of them are the problem. There are many examples of poor leadership but it's impossible to rely on HR in those cases. HR has a reputation of having poor leadership and displaying behaviors that include burning out and bullying their own team members to the point that many have left. If that kind of leadership is tolerated in HR then how can you prevent other departments from doing the same? Agnico does a good job telling you how great they are but a really bad job living up to it when it comes to the work atmosphere and holding leaders accountable.
