BC Hydro reviews

You have no idea who is in charge - there is a cell network that can explode any time. I had the most uneducated, uniformed director who was politically appointed. She was the worst manager I have ever known of. Managed up pretty well I think, but totally out of touch with the business she ran. Dot join if you cant stand seeing stupid decisions based on price and self service. This needs to be privatized. I would have NEVER said that prior to my 5 years at BC hydro. A few great people led by a few that incent the wrong behaviors...

Another re-org to improve performance in April, but just a shuffling of chairs in senior management. Too bad, because lack experience and basic skills at this level severely impedes the organization. Happened three times since I've been at Hydro - every time one or two seniors leaders with particularly spectacular screw-ups will be laid off, a few more will be demoted or shuffled into a minor portfolios, but most lay-offs will be professionals and office-based union employees. People with the right education, 10, 20, 30 years experience and no obvious performance issues walked out the door, while leaders who are widely known to be incompetent are still in place. I guess they just blame their staff?!
