It's good but not great.

Pros

The majority of people you work with are great and the benefits are great. Pay is adequate for the Niagara Region.

Cons

However during the past few years the administration has become toxic. There have been a number individuals who have left because administration has not made it comfortable for them only to replace these individuals with unqualified friends. A fresh outlook years ago has turned into an old boys club. Unfortunately good qualified people don't stay at Brock for whatever reason.

Pros

-Access to Facilities (gym, pool, etc.) -There's some really great people there -If you keep focused on helping the students, it helps one stay motivated -Week off at Christmas

Cons

-Established staff treat new people terribly (especially in IT) -there are LITTLE to NO training opportunities for IT staff, while a lot of the senior staff (many of which are not up to speed on technology at all) take these opportunities -no plan for growth (although some thing that a job title change is a promotion...) -many of their "enterprise" systems are stuck in the dark ages -everyone has heard the term "old boys club" when referring to Brock... just look at the management relationships

Pros

The people at Brock are lovely - students, faculty, and staff alike. It's a wonderful community and a welcoming place to work. There's lots of opportunity for movement within the University and the tuition waiver is great for pursuing professional development.

Cons

The biggest downside is the pay. Brock pays (on average) 20 000 less for the same job as Niagara college. I would have stayed there indefinitely if I was compensated fairly. After leaving and moving to the college sector - I know make almost twice what I was making by moving up one seniority level.
