Pros

Good income from Home if you’re a white person

Cons

This company is no doubt racist and discriminatory. They reject all non-white applicants regardless of their qualifications. As a white person, I was hired with no secondary education or any sort of teaching certificate (the only qualification I have is that I’m a native English speaker). Here’s the issue: I applied during the same period as my Asian friend (who is a native English speaker) but her application was rejected and she wasn’t offered an interview. She has a Bachelor’s Degree and a TEFL certificate plus 3 years of experience teaching children. They replied saying that although her qualifications were impressive, they had too many other applicants with superior qualifications. That was an outright lie as someone like myself with no qualifications whatsoever was contacted and hired. I bet that even if they start interviewing non-whites, it’ll just be for show and they won’t actually be hired. Or perhaps they’ll start to hire a handful of them just to prove they aren’t racist but know that the hiring process is 100% inequal and you do not have equal opportunity if you’re of other races. We emailed the company to confront them about this blatant racism and they have yet to respond so I decided to post this review. Please if you are a white teacher working for this company, show them that you won’t stanf for this! I know the income is good but we can’t simply contribute to this racism just because there is more demand for white teachers in the market. We are teaching children and many will be tomorrow’s leaders for godsakes. How could we promote these archaic and wrongful perceptions for monetary reasons?

Dear teacher, we're sorry you feel this way about DaDaABC. We do not only hire white people, as we have many teachers of different nationalities. Please email teacher_hr@dadaabc.com and send them this same information if you feel needed. We promise, we do hire teachers of all backgrounds. We are receiving a large amount of applicants, so resume's and simple communications can make a difference in applying. We're sorry your friend didn't make it, this time, but he/she should still apply in the future. We hope you can continue with DaDaABC.

Pros

The pay was decent. I think I started on the higher end of the spectrum and felt that it was relatively fair (if they had actually paid me what I was owed).

Cons

1) They say on their website that fees will be 200rmb, but I have been charged in excess of 450rbm (about $70) when I bank with a bank that doesn't charge ANY fees. So, ALL of the fees come from dadaabc. You can make your own assumption about what I think is going on. 2) Dadaabc has a facebook group, but members are often censored when they have any sort of issue and are trying to solve it. I suppose that censorship is part of Chinese culture, but it's really unpleasant to deal with. 3) I taught a child that couldn't read a letter but had a lesson about women's suffrage and I called to the help desk multiple times without a response. This is an example, but similar situations happened 20+ times.

Pros

flexibility to work from anywhere

Cons

They have reduced the base pay twice in less than a month. I have been working with Dada for 3 years and I've been teaching the same students for the past 3 years. My hourly pay has been significantly reduced. Even though I'm on a 2 year contract, they have breached the contract and told me, "I completely understand...copy and paste a generic message" and not answer any questions. There are other online ESL companies, please reconsider applying to a company that is willing to screw over their employees during these times.
