Pros
Overall 4Refuel is an okay place to work. Some of the staff that work there are very nice. The work atmosphere is casual and social which is also nice. Used to be a family owned business so it has a small family business feel to it at times but this is rapidly disappearing as the company is growing and has gone through several ownership changes. Flexibility is also good for people with families or personal appointments.
Cons
Incompetent Managers Most of the senior management team at 4Refuel have been there since or shortly after the company’s inception. As a result they have limited industry experience outside of this company which leads them to be incompetent at their jobs such as running the business/departments using ‘old school’ methods and not fresh new ideas which are more common in the industry these days. Too much ‘red tape’ around new ideas or changes. Many of the managers are in those positions simply because they have been with the company for so long. Not because they are capable to performing that job. Culture is next to non-existent compared to most modern companies out there and management does the bare minimum at the lowest cost to the bottom line just to say they tried. Compensation The company touts they offer competitive compensation but the general consensus among employees was that they felt they were underpaid compared to industry standards. My experience was similar. Raises are far and few in between unless you beg for it even if you are known to be underpaid in order to keep operating costs low. Benefits The benefits used to be great a long time ago but there have been many cut backs since and is sub par compared to what other organizations are offering out in the market. 2 weeks of vacation per year to start. What to Expect Be prepared to have your good name tarnished no matter your years of loyal service to this company once blame shifting kicks in at a 110% shortly after your departure by your direct manager and colleagues once they realize they can simply blame you for their shortcomings and use you as a scapegoat. Your new ideas will be shrugged off or pitched to senior management as their own by your superiors. Points to Take Away - Growth is very limited due to the size of the business. - Your experience will vary depending on department and manager. - Culture is non-existent. You will feel like you are ‘going to work’ every single day. - Depending on who you report to your hard work will be credited to them. - Lots of friendly overworked and underpaid people also work here if that’s your cup of tea.
