Pros
Colleagues are engaged, intelligent, and supportive. The company culture is built around collaboration without ego, and they are doing their best to preserve this even while the company grows. There will always be a few bad hires that don't quite fit in, but those are not the norm. Overall, AbCellera provides a lot of benefits for their employees, focuses on worklife balance and professional growth as a priority (with varying degrees of success). I would say based on a number of companies I have worked on in the past, AbCellera continues to stand out as a place where opportunities are available to those who work hard for them, and where management actually gives a some **cks about your progress and job satisfaction.
Cons
There are some challenges being experienced during this growth phase, while the company reorients itself and its long term goals, and the changes that the company are undergoing are not palatable to some (many of those who were around during the earlier phases of the company, when it was more of a start-up and pre IPO). I would be critical of poor reviews that come from disguntled ex-employees who didn't make it through this transition. There are some challenges around collaborating across teams as the company grows so quickly, and this can lead to inefficiencies from poor communication. A lot of management and long-term employees who have this historical company knowledge end up being those who facilitate these cross-team collaborations, for better or for worse.
