Pros
It's a paycheck and employment.
Cons
If you want to work towards advancing in a company this isn't the place to do it. When positions come up they hire externally and don't seem to appreciate your hard work and dedication is what ive experiencd and witnessed in my time employed there. Equipment is always broken, bandaid fixed, and never reliable. No heat in the locomotives about 80% of the time in the winter but expected to deal with it and just get the work done ( suprised that Transport Canada lets the locomotivs opperate legally). If you enjoy being told and promised things just to find out they changed there mind and told false statements then this is the place for you. For the wage it's not worth the hard work you are expected to perform, be prepared to be exhausted after every shift. If you are just looking for a paycheck then they will provide that. I would recommend to keep looking for a more promising career elsewhere. I also found that saying they aren't a "Class 1" railway and operating like one seem to be confusing. I can't say I found it to be organized either. In Alberta's economy other jobs are more appealing.
