Pros

- People are mostly friendly and at least act nice - Base pay is generally reasonable for engineering roles

Cons

- The crypto industry is a rapidly-collapsing scam (look it up). Dapper Labs builds nothing of real value. What little real work gets done at Dapper ends up being mostly focussed around "building hype" instead of creating something with lasting value for the consumer. - Culture of managing upward because the CEO is a reckless tyrant. Most people are just focussed on doing what they can to look good for their superiors. This has more to do with paying lip service than actually delivering quality work on time. - No formal system for tracking performance or career progression. - Leadership has no idea what anyone should work on and priorities shift constantly. - Deadlines make no sense and come flying down from leadership without warning, and thus are always missed. Engineers don't have a say in deadlines but are still held to them. The process looks like this: get given insane deadline -> rush out broken code -> rush to fight fires -> rush to fix the code -> repeat. - Very poor work life balance. - The company is running out of money fast and has even resorted to giving people promotions without pay increases. Recent raises have come in the form of worthless crypto with long vesting periods or stock options that you aren't allowed to sell anyway.

Pros

Full remote flexibility. Interesting technology and passionate community around the products. Smart, talented colleagues who genuinely care about the work.

Cons

Lack of clear strategic direction creates constant whiplash in priorities. CEO micromanages extensively but provides no actionable direction - constantly asserts your approach is wrong without offering viable alternatives or having clear answers himself. Leadership style is characterized by rudeness, emotional outbursts, and anger rather than constructive feedback. Frequent organizational changes and layoffs generate persistent instability and anxiety across teams. This fear-based culture stifles innovation and drives high turnover at all levels.
