Pros
-Generous Sport Chek store discount card which offsets otherwise over-priced merchandise. -Nice Xmas gift boxes from the Canadian Tire Corporation.
Cons
Below average pay, no bonuses, no raises, minimal benefits, no overtime, no time in lieu, and no personal respect. Essentially there is no incentive to work hard other than to keep your job. In addition... -Extremely weak management. From top to bottom, this is by far the most inept and overwhelmed management group I have ever encountered. -No career development opportunities. No internal or external training provided to 99% of the IT staff. -No worker camaraderie - no lunches, golf tournaments, or other events exist within the IT office -An "us vs. them" spirit with Canadian Tire counterparts. -An adversarial approach to vendors and contractors, most of whom we were perpetually late paying. -An exhausting environment; everything is a panic and on fire. No processes, no tools, and no documentation to help. -A place where no one ever seemed to laugh or ever enjoy their job. Ever. -A culture of fear and finger-pointing that permeated everything. -Loads and loads of contractors & TFW's from India. -Very high turnover rate. A place where people are fired weekly. The IT building is located in the midst of an industrial park with no facilities and no parking (except for the executives of course). Nowhere to go, nothing to see, nowhere to walk to and nowhere to eat. It's an awful place. Really it is. This is a place where management drops "F" bombs at their staff, fire people in the middle of meetings, and generally terrorize their teams while HR sits idly by. I could seriously go on...and on...and on. If you're desperate for a paycheck, hit them up, otherwise find somewhere--anywhere!--else to work.
