Pros

Working conditions are very nice. Beautiful new building. The normal folks that we met there were fantastic, loving people who unfortunately have been sucked down the rabbit hole of lies and deceit.

Cons

-You are living in a walled, gated compound in the middle of nowhere in East Texas -You are basically living in poverty-super low pay that you have to raise yourself, no health insurance -You are controlled by leadership -Your feeling and emotions will be spiritualized and manipulated -You think you are working for a missionary-sending organization when you are actually working for an Eastern Orthodox style church -Men are expected to work, work, work -Women are marginalized and expected to submit, submit, submit -Very unhealthy atmosphere in which to raise children -This really is VERY cultish, be warned! -Any positive reviews from current staff have been encouraged by leadership

Cons

I did not get to prepare photobooks for all of the major donors

Pros

I have the joy of knowing that the work I do each day here in Texas is bringing help and hope to people in Asia through Christian workers there who do a much better job there than I possibly could if I were there. The people I labor alongside here are some of the best, most dedicated, kindest people I know. The emphasis on prayer throughout each day and during weekly prayer meetings keeps our eyes on the Lord as we seek His direction and provision for the work and for each individual involved - from donors to staff members to workers and recipients in Asia. In addition to the normal workplace benefits like insurance, vacation days, job training, staff at Gospel for Asia have the freedom, and are encouraged to practice our faith and grow spiritually, We recognize our dependence on the Lord and He guides and provides marvelously. There is a genuine caring and camaraderie among staff members, who are quick to pray for and help you in times of need, as well as have fun while serving together and playing together during non-work hours.

Cons

Working at Gospel for Asia is not a 40 hr./wk. job - it's a calling to reach people in Asia with the love of Jesus. Participation in prayer meetings and other meetings after the work day is expected, as is working overtime when needed. Because of the work being done in Asia, staff members experience spiritual warfare often. A high level of devotion, dedication and stamina is needed. It's hard work, but very rewarding.
