Pros

- Great employee discounts. You get your 10% off on cosmetics then 20% off on other items with your bay credit card - Morning meetings, sales managers tell everyone about their targets, highlighting deals, recognizing employees who received online surveys or achieved the most IC's or who caught the most shoplifters that week then everyone claps... -Great incentives on IC's and theft prevention -30% discounts each month on different items such as cosmetics or formal wear, usually theres more variation during Christmas season

Cons

1. Employee discount only applies to credit card which means you have to apply for it in order to get it. And your discount isn't taken off at the register. It is taken off your bill. Which means by the time of the purchase, you need to pay the full amount and then you get back 20% off on your credit card bill. Not cash. Credit. Which also means that if you're under 19 and a student working at the bay, you do not get to enjoy this perk. Anyways, you could split the bill like pay partially with your bank card then the rest on your credit but it gets problematic because if you made alot of purchases, theres a chance that your discount/rebate money goes over your credit. E.g. you have 100$ credit but because you got money back, you now have 200$ = 100$ over your credit which you cannot withdraw... You could only spend it in store. And after spending all that much, you're broke what with ur min wage job and you just seriously need to have that 100$ so what other option do you have?... Hmmmm.... 2. Morning meetings are a pain when you have alot to do before customers come in. Sometimes the managers ask everyone to fold the mess in different areas. Disaster areas that were struck by buyers who were serious to disassemble perfectly laid out sweaters or shoes on the bay days or Christmas season 3. Calling out system sucks, you never get to talk to a person and you're not permitted to text even when they use texting to give you orders anyway. You are also not allowed to leave a message. No one has time to breathe, let alone.. So what did you expect? 4. You have to wear black clothing. Black shoes. No runners allowed. The polished floors and ladders and constant running around becomes your enemy and it all adds up to pain to every inch of your body as time goes by 5. Dead season- post holidays means 4 hours guaranteed hours for part timers and 28 hrs only for full timers. Youre only guaranteed this much but have to be available everyday or else you will lose your position. 6. Audit season is terrible. Some get really sick. Like worse than flu season and its mandatory that everyone participates because its your job. 7. While worrying about audit or hours, and the money on your bank account from the poor hours you've been getting and poor pay, you are required to open credit cards, capture emails, provide excellent customer service. Because you are an excellent worker no matter what. 8. System is old and difficult to work with. Markdowns require the scanners and printers which only work when you've begged it enough to do it. I'm not sure if its because it gets dropped many times a day or because the system dates back to when the first people of canada met the first white settler. It never works when you have one thing to print so how do you expect it to work when you have a thousand things to mark down? I swear I even had a coworker who had a working scanner and when I touched it, she went to the back and gossiped that I put my jinx powers on it. I thought she was kidding. She wasnt. POS system is a piece of sh. I remember when system was down and we had to do everything manually and we used the carbon reciepts and swipey thingie for credit payments. It was like I was a shopgirl in one of those movies in the 50's serving the rich. 9. Its nice the company has a social committee that fixes up lunches but most of the time when I get there, I could only find grapes and chips. 10. Theft stats ruin your faith in humanity. Even an unsuspecting old grandpa could actually be a con/ thief

Pros

The employee discount is the only attraction.... supervision is alright and you get paid the minimum wage, not to mention commission is a insult.

Cons

If you looking for career path this is not the place (RDU) Employers to them are indispensable. Very low customer flow, if you get more than 10 customer a day, it was a good day however don’t forget you have other colleagues you need to share the sales with and lets hope the item you sold won’t get return otherwise you won’t get the commission!! Plus, you are expected to meet a sale number at the end of the month. Unorganized structure and expect favoritism.
