Pros
Some projects can be fun, and some of the people you get to meet are pretty genuine. Benefits aren't bad either.
Cons
I could write a book. A lot of ego's are places in to leadership roles and tend to make others feel bad about either giving false direction, no direction, or little information to work from. For a company that prides itself in being a "design agency", quite frankly, I have never worked at a shop that shows such little respect to designers. The most respect I've witness is when leadership is looking for someone to "add some colour" to a deck. Some offices are better than others, but this seems to be a trend that runs deep within the agency. When it comes to diversity, it's one of the poorest I've seen. To give the agency credit for its strides on this subject would mean to deny those who are actually actively working in the background to drive these initiatives. A lot of it is done for show for the sake of PR. Lay-offs happen, and we're told that it's a financial issue. A month later, a fresh batch of Director level individuals join the company leading to chaos on projects, then, again, designers have to take the slack because the new director doesn't really know what's happening, or are desperate to stamp their name on it leading to a very frustrating setting. Promotions and salary increases are sparse. Ask for it, you'l be hit with the financial trouble issue... then a week goes by, a new drove of directors join. The company's culture needs a reset. It's lost it's direction but still wants to feel as though it's conducive to an exciting work place when people are sad/mad/angry/uninspired to do the best work.
