Pros

I was lucky enough to have coworkers that I liked. We all suffered together.

Cons

- Head office was an absolute mess. They failed to recognize their shortcomings and how their lack of organization and collaboration skills trickled into all avenues of the business. - Senior VMs were expected to conduct store flips with minimal notice and support. Sometimes I had to conduct a big flip with just one other person hours before the store opened. - Sales were put into place last minute and staff were expected to find every item on a list and manually mark them down. This list consisted of items we didn't even have, so we had to search up each item in our system, see if we had it, look for it, prep it if it wasn't already, as in put the items on the right hangar, sensor it and then write the sale tag. Sometimes the "sale tags" weren't sent to us in a timely manner, and instead of head office taking accountability for the delay, the store was blamed for not executing the sale by the deadline - every member of head office was on a power trip and lacked basic respect and communication skills - Head office would come into the store 30 minutes before my shift ended unannounced and demand a last minute flip because they didn't "like" how something looked (bare in mind, the regional VM would be the one to decide what the flips looked like, but no one respected what she had to say) then, the next day someone else from upper management would come in and demand the same area be flipped again, because they didn't like how it looked. Waste of time and energy, not to mention, disrespectful - They don't pay you if you stay past your shift, but will do everything they can to inconvenience you to make sure you stay - Junior VMs support the senior VM and get paid as much as the rest of the staff, but are expected to do a lot more work - If you work at JD part time as a regular team member, maybe you won't hate your life as much, but I would avoid ANY and ALL VM and management positions. They burn you out, underpay you and the little 30% discount, just isn't worth the hassle. - If you like yourself, avoid working at JD in Canada.
