Pros

Richmond campus is close to a shopping mall.

Cons

Run away as fast as you could. Please don’t look back. KPU is here to extract value from you but will offer nothing in return. Contract employees are disposable and will be treated poorly. Don’t believe a word the upper management tells you and always keep a written record of anything they “promise” to you. But at the same time, even written promises may be taken back under “special circumstances”. Toxic environment. Don’t listen to the positive reviews that brag about work-life balance. These people have *excellent* work-life balance because they outsource and pressure the work to contracted staffs and non regular faculties. If you care, you will lose big at KPU. You won’t build a career here. But if you are looking for an easy side job, KPU is here for some quick (but small) cash.

Pros

Great experience if you get along with your fellow peer mentors and mentees. Great opportunity for university students early in their programs without a major hit to work/life balance.

Cons

Management can be picky about certain methods of mentoring, so it could feel as if you have less control over how you approach mentorship.
