Pros

They pay their employees on time

Cons

For employees on salary: Compensation levels are subpar. The rationale given is, "we are a food company operating on thin margins, focused on providing food for people." Annual performance reviews determine pay increases, which are tied to a quota-based, ranked system. The lowest 10-15% receive no increase and are placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). Being ranked low can result from failing to meet quotas or simply not being favored by higher management. Most annual raises fall within the range of 1-2%, aligning with recommendations from the Bank of Canada. Internal transfers are capped at a 15% increase. Some employees have departed because a 15% increase was below the market rate, while the company will hire externally at market rates. Bonuses are not guaranteed. No bonuses were paid for corporate goals in 2022 and 2023. The individual portion of bonuses varies by department. There is no compensation for overtime work.
