Pros

Its obvious that almost everyone there has a heart to serve. The mission is amazing. Seed Company is very well funded compared to most missions organizations, so you probably will have the tools necessary to do your job well.

Cons

Have moved too far toward "business best practices." As a result, there has been outsourcing, cutbacks, and, based on feedback from those who preceded and followed me in leaving, a decrease in connection to the purpose. Honest feedback is getting rarer. Even well-handled criticism of leadership ideas/initiatives is perceived as risky. Many folks have left after well-reasoned feedback was provided and they subsequently felt unwelcome, had their performance criticized, and their motives questioned.

Pros

- Some of the kindest, most talented people are working at functional levels - Former CEO Larry led with a humility, wisdom, and openness that permeated the culture - A compelling mission with experienced partners in the field - A feeling of family and safety, which can be abused (see below)

Cons

- New CEO hired people who may not be in it for the right reasons; nepotism hires. - Some toxic leaders in upper and middle management value image above growth. Sadly, these leaders cause the org harm and undermine the mission. - Ineffective HR department; often hard to get in contact with to resolve issues.
