Entertainment One - AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL

Pros

if you want to work in the media, it's a good place to add on your resume

Cons

The pay is an absolute joke. The benefits are barely acceptable and if you're not a man, you will be fighting and clawing your way up to be taken professionally. I had many meetings where I was the only female present (among 10+ executive INCLUDING the President) and comments, remarks and jokes were made that were crude, rude and sometimes offensive. The hours are awful (9-6 MINIMUM), they don't encourage anyone to work from home, executives like to point out WHO they are ("do you know who I am?" was a question I heard a lot), and as I said, the PAY IS AWFUL. I was there 10 mths and quit - one of the worst experiences in my life - and I've worked in media and tv and music for years previous to that. The turnover rate is extremely high and everyone I know who used to work there (I kept in touch with over 12) have all quit - no one lasted two years. No room to move up Internal promotions happened ALL the time to VPs and above....I never saw ONE person who was a manager, coordinator or assistant get promoted.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to write this review. It is unfortunate that your time at Entertainment One did not live up to your expectations; we consider our people our best asset and we strive for them to feel valued in every way possible. We are also sorry to hear you felt the benefits offered were not sufficient. We endeavor to offer competitive benefits coverage for medical and dental with no employee co-pay. Regarding your experience with our Human Resources team, as the company grows our HR team is expanding in order to provide additional services and support to our employees worldwide. We value your feedback in order to continually improve as an organization and we take your recommendations seriously. As a result of our most recent engagement survey, we already have a number of new initiatives underway to better improve as an organization. If you would like to provide more specific feedback we would be happy to hear from you at hr@entonegroup.com.

Pros

-Free breakfast and snack everyday -Extremely fast-paced (if you like it, otherwise it's a con for you) -Knowledgeable co-workers about the work processes and systems -Very social working environment; employees usually hang out after work together for bonding

Cons

-Upper management is stuck in their old ways of doing things , they use fear-based approach to employees. -Recognition of employees is very low for the work demanded/required -Health and dental benefits are below industry standards -Employees always complain about low salaries (which is true!) -Work hours are 9-6 pm (which employees typically find out AFTER signing the contract) -Long working hours, past the required time with no overtime pay for even people in non-managerial positions (advice: don't forget to clarify that in writing before accepting a position) -employee turnover is very high (6 people left within 6 months in the core team of 22-25 people) and it continues because of no career growth and poor upper management.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We are sorry that your experience at eOne was not all positive. We appreciate that there is always room for improvement– and value your feedback. We have rolled out the Management Development Program with intent to improve management strategies and our refreshed Performance Review process helps us identify managers who might need further development. We strive to not only attract the best talent, but also to retain, develop, and engage our existing employees; enabling them to advance personally and professionally. Depending on the role and time of year, we recognize that some departments demand high work volume. We always encourage maintaining a work/life balance and we have launched our eOne Rewards program and a number of other social initiatives as a result – but again, we can never say thank you enough. In terms of benefits, we’ve improved our benefits plan by implementing a new Health Care Spending Account which enables more freedom and flexibility for eligible employees. Thank you again for your feedback and your contribution while at eOne.
