Pros

Laid back office environment, no professionalism You could get away with wearing sweat pants to work Managers wouldn't notice if you didn't show up to work for 5 months and would still pay you, which is a bonus

Cons

1. Management has zero regard for anyone's feelings, wants or needs. If you are good at your job, good luck ever moving onto a new role or department 2. No work/life balance 3. Managers moto "if you're not over worked and under paid, you shouldn't work at Evertz" 4. Owners drive around in $100k sports car, while paying people with 5 year engineering degree 35k a year to start (with the promise of up to 50% travel, but you will never leave the office if the manager doesn't like you) 5. Blatant favoritism 6. HR is not there to protect you, they are there to protect the employer 7. Managers will emotionally and mentally abuse you (i.e call you names, belittle you, ZERO positive reinforcement)

Run run run from these lousy CEO's

Pros

There are none to describe in humane treatment.

Cons

You can get fired just for asking for a raise; the CEO thinks minimum wage is good enough with 2 weeks vacation a year and no sick days. Yet we stay late to finish a job because we feel responsible but they don't see that - what a shame - feel sorry for them as human beings actually. Greedy suckers!

Pros

* Your products goes directly to customers, see your impact * Interesting work. Despite the level of complexity and innovation is low. * Good place to learn * Excellent place for coop , junior, and international (non PR), (be warned they pay less )

Cons

* Extreme favoritism! Despite the fact the company is very diverse, yet almost every team "looks like" their manager. * Management only care about their position not progress. They will take the credit, lie, and do all the dirty tricks to cut anyone who might shine. * Very cheap. They would always say " it costs the company money" even for little things. Even at a company policy level they are still cheap, for example: If you refer an engineer and get hired , they give you $50 *gift card* after 3 months, go figure. oh, and $750 if you get a patent!!! * Management prefer to hire timid and submissive employees to protect their status. * Spy on their employees. * Since the bonuses depends on how many products the teams have, and how the products sell. That created a sick culture, where every team wants to steal and harm other teams. Instead of competing with competitors , engineers compete with other teams, in a bad way. * Low efficiency, ( did I mention incompetent management?). The same thing implemented in different ways by multiple teams, under the same director/manager * Old style management. with very low employees retention. * Don't expect to grow unless you "look like" your manager. and continue to stay under him. Be the under dog * And you won't notice most of that unless you are smart, look different, and you gotta stay for a while to see the dirty politics.
