Pros

- Benefits package is generous if you work for head office - Head office itself is a nice office to work in and there's free food + beverages - Lots of opportunities to learn and grow as it's constantly extremely busy. Can be a great stepping stone for your next career path - Some people are nice and it's easy to get along with certain folks

Cons

- Everything is a mess. Everything. The company is trying to execute a million projects and tasks at the same time so it's constant chaos - Work culture is old school, it's a hit or miss depending on your team. The company is trying to improve on work culture but no matter how you look at it, it's still a bland workplace. If you're older than 40 then this is probably the place for you - A lot of work politics and gossip which can lead to a toxic & uncomfortable work environment - Wages are not competitive and you do not get a bonus unless you are management and higher. No OT - High turnover rates due to the high-pressure work environment and people are always on the verge of burning out. Some departments are starting to look like a revolving door - The company likes to use a band-aid approach as a solution to many problems and a lot of that is due to time constraints and/or the limitations of our (or lack of) super outdated systems and processes - Work-life balance sucks - Not much transparency between senior leadership and the majority of the workforce - People last less than 2 years or they have worked here for 5+ years. There's no in-between.

Pros

Some were genuinely good people

Cons

Let's just say there's the correct and smart way then there's the Extendicare way If you're starting off your career do not work here bc you won't develop good skill sets that will help in future opportunities. If you're experienced don't work here bc you'll lose the good skill sets you worked so hard to develop. If you're looking for a 9-5 and you don't care about your job it's the perfect place for you

Lost its ways

Pros

It used to feel like everyone was a family. It is slowly losing that feeling. Most coworkers are very caring people and very friendly.

Cons

Some of the "leadership" team is just awful. There is no encouragement to do better, all you get are complaints and being harassed for every single thing. They will not help you in any way, even if it would be the easier route for them. Instead of helping a resident when they see them in need, they will take the time to walk around the building to track you down, give you trouble for not being there, and get you to go help them. There is serious problems that need to be adressed but unfortunately no one is brave enough to report them to higher athority, or to talk to them directly because that would make working even more horrable, specially in such a small town. A simple good job once in awhile would be nice, but I personally don't remember the last time I heard that being said. Only complaints and nit picking. Definitely a control issue.
