Pros

Benefits are decent, people are problem-solvers. Lots of parallel social events.

Cons

People management has a much higher value than techincal mangement. Unclear technical paths with harder promotions than for managing people, resulting in poor people managers because that's the easy way up. Poor planning as part of the company culture, too many people working based on interrupting others. Upper management enforcing people to work full time in the office after years of constant growth in remote or hybrid policies does not make sense.

Pros

Challenging and interesting work, for the first 1-2 years. Interns and graduates are relied on to help deliver key projects. Colleagues are friendly and willing to help with questions. There are lots of sports opportunities - often more than one at each lunch time, and the office culture is to take a full hour's break at noon.

Cons

Slow promotions and requirement to fully prove capability before being allowed to move into new roles. Stubborn and inflexible management. Constant work overload. Constant changing of priorities, as events are often elevated to 'emergency' status unnecessarily. If you are not part of the lunchtime sports culture, then you are less likely to be given opportunities. Employees are rarely trusted by management with enough authority to effectively get their jobs done. No annual bonus (you usually get a Christmas turkey).

Pros

Great culture, people and benefits. Really nice facilities and environment. Cool products and employee discounts. Hybrid WFH policy.

Cons

Compensation below market rates. New hires get better pay than existing employees. Too strict HR policies, not open to negotiation. Too many processes and procedures which make software development sluggish and impacts ability to innovate.
