Pros

Great first job out of school. Decent salary for young professionals. Reasonable work environment.

Cons

Painfully slow career advancement. Too many unqualified and unskilled people hired only because of politics or education. Chaotic operational infrastructure. Organization has a poor strategic vision.

Pros

You are able to take courses for free. There is some flexibility. This would be a great gig for a student or for an entry level employee.

Cons

PT staff are treated like second-class citizens. A completely different experience if you're full-time.

Pros

You can make a decent wage for part time work here and get decent benefits if you work on a partial load contract

Cons

art timers are not treated well, union rules are not respected, any additional expertise you may have to contribute is disregarded; once upon a time ago, they couldn't get part time staff in the office fast enough. Now even part time work has become political. Clerks do the teaching assignments, and if you look at someone the wrong way and don't keep your mouth shut, you'll be out of a job next term. AS it is, you never know if you have a job next term anyhow, and there is much favoritism in how partial load assignments are given out. If you must work there, get your experience, and get out. The odds of you getting hired are extremely low, and if you stay there too long, you'll get pidgeon holed in one area and never be able to work anywhere else.
