Pros

- Seemingly good culture - Decent benefits - Progressive for a large company - Everyone seems to be highly motivated - Good CEO and company vision, EXTREMELY poor execution - Nice offices - Snacks - Most people are nice - Geotab has been blessed by luckily acquiring companies that had truly amazing people and who have positively impacted Geotab

Cons

- Terrible pay, terrible career path, terrible promotions. Once you join expect to earn the same amount for many years. - They force you to take the "Best Managed Companies" survey then brag about they got the certification. This company is many things, but well managed is not one of them. - Management positions are all taken by inexperienced early employees who abuse their positions, lack leadership and vision, are childish, and are terrible managers. Nice place at the beginning but VERY TOXIC as time goes on. - They give out Associate VP titles like they're samples at Costco, to all the most unqualified people, just to keep up with external appearances. - Too many cooks in the kitchen. Every time the CEO has a townhall meeting everyone gets super motivated and everyone feels empowered, but without proper guidance, organizational structure, cross-functional teamwork, most teams end up running like headless chickens, doing overlapping or opposing work to other teams. - Company is focused on closing out deals with an emphasis in speed, while having a poor execution and no scalability, but then the rest of the company is focused on building red tape around every process, pushback and little interest in other team's priorities. There's no clear company wide direction. - Every new executive and sr. manager wants to be the star of the show and they all keep creating unnecessary and unfocused work for the organization. - Will most likely see high turn-over rate in the upcoming years. - Constant (true) rumours of harassment.

Pros

Location is great (Business District), Free Lunches, Game room, Café, Travel, Business meals … not much else.

Cons

This job has a lot of "great" perks but don’t let that steer your judgement. This is all to mask the underlying issues that the company has. It is evident that this company is family run and plays favourites... it truly is not about what you know. The corporate flat structure that the company prides itself on no longer exists and there are multiple layers to the company. The company constantly hires massively which is a red flag due to the large growth. I began this job already on the fence about the place and the culture and boy should I have stuck with my gut instinct. I thought the issues mentioned were just with Las Vegas but it is the whole company. The hiring process is the most intense of anywhere I have ever worked and they will leave you guessing up until your first day. The HR team was without a doubt the worst HR team I have interacted with, they are not professional whatsoever. As you can see from other reviews this place needs a lot of work. This is a great place if you have never worked anywhere in a professional setting before but other then that STEER CLEAR. The salary is much lower then industry standard and there is no consistency among salary. Any of the overtime that is done does not matter and you will not get in lieu or paid out for it. The people are very cliquey and you will likely find it hard to fit in. There isn't a real integration among other employees and you will often feel excluded as it isn't the most welcoming environment., Expectations are clearly not set out and you are expected to do things outside of your role. Promises are often made and not held on to. This place is not a place where you will have a career. If you are looking for a career go elsewhere. The company has way too many growing pains.

Easy work but the compensation reflects it

Pros

Don't have to work very hard, deadlines are not really enforced. Product team misses committed product feature launch dates with regularity and just about every other department does too. Work life balance is solid since the company does not incentivize or pay enough to bring in true top performers unless you're in a very technical role. Hybrid work policy is decent and allows for flexibility. Benefits are good too. Middle management at the AVP and VP level is strong despite the challenges you can see they have with dealing with the C suite and board and they all genuinely care about us as their employees.

Cons

Family owned company and they very much want to keep the bulk of the riches for themselves and operate the company in this way. They pay people just enough to keep the company moving. Every board meeting (mostly the family) results in new, reactive actions that everyone must immediately action and drop what else they're doing. The strategy seems to be to look at what the competitors are doing and then react to it. Compensation is just ok in terms of salary and limited upside to go above and beyond as bonuses are not on par with market. There are directors at companies in the industry with bonuses twice the amount of VPs at Geotab. CEO is pushing a very flat org structure of no more than 4 levels between him and entry level which severely limits growth opportunities especially for those that want to manage people.
