Politics Creating Bad Feelings

Pros

Started off as a great place to work. Talented co-workers. Relaxed environment. Benefits package. Located in a good part of the city for restaurants. Majority of supervisor are excellent, approachable without the egos.

Cons

The majority of artists and supervisors are talented professions. However there are a few exceptions that are seriously affecting moral. In particular, one of the supervisors goes around bad-mouthing other crew members and supervisors behind their back, never to the targets face. I have witnessed this many times. He will also blame others when things go wrong but take credit when things go well. His department is far from perfect, often causing problems further down the pipeline. But he will never accept the responsibility, only blames others. Unfortunately he has influence on upper management who listen to his poison. It is creating a lot of tension on the floor.

Leadership duo is dysfunctional. Long hours and no work/life balance. No appreciation from executive leadership. Shady business practices.

Pros

Great projects, and wonderful talent on the floor of the studio. There are some truly intelligent, accomplished people who work here, outside of top executives. If you don't have to deal directly with upper management, you may have a good time here.

Cons

Utterly dysfunctional upper management, as demonstrated by the constant turnover in the senior ranks. This company, which outwardly prides itself on creating "positive" programming to children, actually operates with zero integrity. They exploit their employees at any opportunity.

Guru Studio Response

We're sorry you felt your voice was unheard. Guru demands respectful communication between all levels of talent, regardless of seniority, and are always ready to listening to great new ideas from smart people that will help us improve how we function. We've never missed a deadline! Fun fact: the average historical length of term in our senior (upper) management at Guru has now risen to 13 years! We think that's very low turnover or an 18 year old company!
