Pros

Flexibility (working hours, work from home, work from anywhere), 4 weeks of vacation to start, additional incentive days off, RRSP matching, industry-leading training, upskilling, education reimbursement, c suite-level support, award recognition, annual all expenses paid vacation for high achievers (with a plus one), culture building activities, uncapped commission. Most importantly, unwavering support, mentorship and data-based feedback from senior staff to help build your own desk and book of business under the umbrella of the only publicly traded recruitment agency in Canada. I've spent years with this business and am one of few who have worked at other agencies. When I was looking for a change, I met with several agencies and received offers from all of them. None could offer what Hays could: a career with no ceilings; not just with respect to earnings (Hays has one of, if not the best commission plans of any other agency in Canada), but also the opportunity to pivot from an individual contributor to people manager, to regional manager and beyond. Furthermore, Hays is a destination for Recruiters who are experts in their field, some billing more than $1M in a single fiscal year, all of whom are keen to share their knowledge with new and existing employees in the form of formal or informal mentorship. Most critically, other agencies can foster and reinforce a competitive working environment with employees undercutting each other, stealing clients and candidates. At Hays, we celebrate each other's wins. There are company-wide emails and chats designed to call attention to the accomplishments of others, all flooded with activity. At the end of each billing cycle, staff are recognized for outstanding achievements not just with regard to billing but culture and inclusion, how positively they're recommended by clients/candidates, employee of the month, rookie of the month etc. No business is perfect. But Hays is the closest I believe you can come in the recruitment industry.

Cons

Having to work alongside people who think it's a bad place to work.

Pros

Working for Hays in Canada has been a great experience. They strike the right balance between professionalism and a strong sense of community, making the work rewarding and enjoyable. There is a large community of leaders that have stayed with the organization for years (sometimes decades) and the comradery and recruitment/sales knowledge is unmatched. The leadership continually tries to create opportunities for employees to get involved in all levels of the organization and to create an environment where all employees feel included.

Cons

The salary bands and rewards need to be revisited.
