Pros

LBMX has been a great place to work. I've had the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of business functions that have been tailored to my strengths. The work is challenging but rewarding. The employees at LBMX are fantastic - everyone is good at what they do, interesting, and get along well. The culture is friendly and positive.

Cons

Like with most small companies, communication and processes can be a challenge, but I have seen improvement every year.

Good place to work despite shortcomings

Pros

Most of the people are quite friendly and good (with a few exceptions). The CEO is a very intelligent and respectful guy, but his next in command can be really unpleasant despite his overtly folksy, pseudo-friendly demeanour. The office environment is somewhat formal except in the IT/QA/Development group where the dress code is more relaxed.

Cons

The company's clients are typically not technology oriented and very slow to innovate, which limits the growth potential. Legacy software products that despite their well known limitations are not going anywhere due to lack of resources. Limited career growth potential in the IT/QA/Development group. Sales-driven business culture frequently sets unreasonable deadlines for the delivery of new product features, causing regular crunches and spikes in overtime work. Risk that the company will be sold to one of its bigger competitors in the foreseeable future as both senior partners are well in their late 60's.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your time at LBMX. Thank you for acknowledging some of the positive aspects about your time at LBMX and also pointing out areas for improvement. We have been working to address many of the issues you raised, through organizational improvements and through additional focus on new development. For example, the rewrite of older legacy systems to new technology is well underway. All companies (large and small) can find themselves of interest to another company. However, LBMX is only focused on being the best company in our space and are not interested in selling to any other entity. With respect to the senior partners in the late 60’s. That is not true. We just look that way 😊. Thank you for being part of the LBMX team and best of luck in your current role.
