Pros

On a positive note, I must acknowledge the support of a few fellow developers who were helpful and encouraging despite the overall challenging atmosphere.

Cons

Having worked at Loblaw Digital, my experience was marred by significant challenges that affected my ability to perform optimally. The expectation to dive into the intricate codebase and navigate through incidents without proper guidance or training was unrealistic and set the stage for an overwhelming onboarding process. The work environment fostered an atmosphere of toxicity, where undue pressure seemed to be the norm. The presence of a Scrum Master, who appeared more concerned with speed than quality, contributed to a stressful and unproductive work culture. This disregard for a supportive and collaborative atmosphere was disappointing. I was deeply disappointed by the lack of clarity and transparency from the management. Despite receiving feedback from the director indicating my satisfactory performance, I was unexpectedly let go a mere two days later, without a valid explanation or opportunity for constructive dialogue. This lack of professionalism in handling human resources reflects poorly on the company's integrity. Adding insult to injury, They have refused to compensate me from the day I ceased work, despite my having left my previous job to join them. This unfair compensation policy only further emphasized the company's disregard for its employees' well-being and rights. Despite positioning themselves as advocates of equity and a woke culture, Company falls short in all other aspects, perpetuating a dissonance between their proclaimed values and actual practices.

Pros

- stock matching - job security - amazing benefits

Cons

- HR told me 'I'm his friend, I know he wouldn't do that' then told me to quit or go on disability. - no inflation matching - its demotivating that your work makes people's lives worse - 'accommodates all disabilities!' until you ask them to accommodate your disabilities. - devs in crunch for 12 months - overtime on weekends is expected and uncompensated - you are on-call 24 hours - and uncompensated - managements lack of planning, organizing, or managing? - no, dev skill issue - 5 sick days a year and they're strict about it

Pros

Brand name on your experience and resume?

Cons

Where to start. While it was was rewarding and exciting to work on some really cool well known products the cons far out way the pros. Tech leadership is broken and it was difficult to work effectively together with product. Exec Leadership was awful, half of the exec team turned over in 6 months. The bullying culture was straight from the top down and you couldn’t turn to HR because they at times were a part of it. Employees were trying to drive their own meaningful diversity initiatives because everything leadership and HR seem to deliver was for optics. It’s not a competitor with the opportunities in the market right now. Pay is ok but nothing you can’t find elsewhere.
