Pros

- Colleagues are very supportive of each other. - Office is very conveniently located in downtown. - Benefits are decent (Tuition, RRSP matching).

Cons

- Salary is very low compared to other companies of the same size. - You'll have to work with legacy codebases. A lot of the business logic is not documented which makes it difficult to understand the code sometimes. - Accumulated quite a bit of tech debt and it seems like it's the last thing they care about. - You have to do on-call support every other week. - A lot of processes in place to slow you down. Something as simple as restarting the server in the test environment can take a few hours just because you have to reach out to a different team to do it. - Sometimes you have to attend 6AM or 7AM meetings. - The sandbox environment which you use for dev work breaks all the time. It's very frustrating and it also impacts delivery. - You have to work overtime sometimes, especially nearing the end of a PI. - Very meeting-heavy.

Pros

RRSP and benefits are decent

Cons

Challenging work environment, especially as a female team member. Senior leaders that I work with are extremely rude who openly believe that fear and intimidation is the best way to motivate team members. I am not bothered by the amount of workload but the urgency attached to it, and the bashing and shaming that follows. Never in my long career as a developer I have seen such aggressive and micromanaging senior leaders at director level. Stand-up meetings are worse than a nightmare. I have been losing sleep over these meetings which is adversely affecting my health and personal life. Can't believe this is happening in Canada. Would not recommend Mastercard, Canada to any female employee.

Pros

Nothing I can think of

Cons

Data & Services delivery is a terrible place to work for women. Global leadership turns a blind eye to these issues as long as revenue targets are met. Women voices are suppressed, hiring is dominated by men except for those lucky enough to have a prior connection like being an office lead’s old coworker. Good luck trying to be outspoken with regional leadership. You won’t last long unless you act loyal and stick to the dominant male voice in the room. Several female consultants have left, several female AMC’s have left, several female SMC’s & directors have left. More women will continue to leave or get pushed out. Women office leads got demoted through reorgs. They were replaced by a male who just so happens to be boys with higher ups and got promoted. So if you’re thinking about working here, watch out. Just prepare to be ignored, shut down and thrown under the bus on the regular.
