Pros

Benefits are good. It's just another job. You can get away with a lot of your the right person

Cons

Management is beyond impaired. They put people into positions not because they want to make it a better place to work but because they don't want to work shift. Favouritism is the key. An employee that does there work ends up doing all the work. Too much overtime and mandatory. Not paid to be on call and sit by the phone. No Union. No guarenteed pension because Michelin can't make money off of it.

Pros

Stable company. Perfect option for a parent to scare their kids into taking their post-secondary education seriously. Nothing says stay in school quite like factory work.

Cons

Shift work. It smelled like the great depression.

Pros

A great company to work for: a relatively good pay (there's much better out there but there's much worst out there too), proper tools and systems at your disposal to do your job and develop your skills. Great opportunities to move sideway and upward in the company for those open to move to/from US, France and many other Countries around the world. There are still a lot of great people working there and fighting to do the right thing. The focus on "customers" and "consumers" is genuine and reflective of many of the company intiatives.

Cons

Too process-oriented, slows down efficiencies and aiblity to move swiftly and focus on the real job. Tries to overcompensate by pushing down gazillion initiatives (often with unreasonably tight timelines) on increasingly skimpier human resource. This results in overworked and overstressed employees at every level of the hierarchy & ends up bringing the worst out of people instead. In order to survive in this environment where it's a constant race against time, employees need to focus on spitting out output and no longer care and fight to do what they know and believe is a better way forward... Michelin has not been walking the talk when it comes to respecting and caring for their valuable human resource & they've started paying for it. Employees are learning to let go and not care as much in order to keep their head above the water.
