Pros

- your peers are great - good snacks - fun projects - nice office - fun outings - innovative tech but that depends where you work and what products

Cons

- labelling it a “high performance environment” so it’s ok to work overtime. High performance would mean you as leaders plan better so we can have work life balance. You’re burning people out - this is a job, a culture “deeply rooted in connection” means you won’t get ahead unless you play nice - which is a corporate approach to culture. Some of us have an identity beyond our job. - leaders that don’t want to change processes or improve because they like their seat of power - D&I is non existent especially by the leadership. Look at your leaders - how many are BIPOC, disabled, or part of the LGBTQ+? - read into the Great Resignation. Look at how burned out we are because of your poor planning. People will leave as fast as you’re hiring. - unhealthy competitive attitude amongst some of the leaders - especially those that don’t want to evolve beyond “production”. The landscape is product management. - pay is not industry standard

Pros

The company overall is a great company and it has great talent and very hard-working people. A great learning experience and processes are really nailed down and well defined.

Cons

Don't be fooled by all the fake 5 star reviews on this page. It is an absolutely unhealthy work environment. So much politics going on and there is absolutely no culture in the design department. Although there are many talented individuals in the company, there are also many incompetent individuals who happened to be great followers (Not leaders) who get promoted not once but twice or thrice. I had a toxic boss who was completely unsupportive, lacked empathy, and was always in panic mood and panicked everyone around.

Lots of turnover, they're still figuring things out as they go...

Pros

Competitive salary, remote work, generous time off and generally nice people (for the most part).

Cons

Monks has no idea how to budget or plan ahead, people get laid off (due to budget) all the time and many within the first year of joining. Also, they love saying they are "building a dream team" but there is so much turnover that you're constantly getting new people on your team.
