Don’t get fooled by the cool clients and fancy website
Pros
- your peers are great - good snacks - fun projects - nice office - fun outings - innovative tech but that depends where you work and what products
Cons
- labelling it a “high performance environment” so it’s ok to work overtime. High performance would mean you as leaders plan better so we can have work life balance. You’re burning people out - this is a job, a culture “deeply rooted in connection” means you won’t get ahead unless you play nice - which is a corporate approach to culture. Some of us have an identity beyond our job. - leaders that don’t want to change processes or improve because they like their seat of power - D&I is non existent especially by the leadership. Look at your leaders - how many are BIPOC, disabled, or part of the LGBTQ+? - read into the Great Resignation. Look at how burned out we are because of your poor planning. People will leave as fast as you’re hiring. - unhealthy competitive attitude amongst some of the leaders - especially those that don’t want to evolve beyond “production”. The landscape is product management. - pay is not industry standard
