You'll soon get into the team spirit with other folks, which will allow you to gripe about the company pretty freely. Free coffee (And cream!)

After reading about other peoples' experiences here, I felt compelled to come forward and do what I can to prevent others from working here. There are several consl: The company is not Canada-based, and has very little idea of Canadian labour codes or willingness to learn. They have been subject to at least one labour complaint in the last year, and with 40%+ turnover (Someone leaves every two weeks, though that may have changed) . Whether that is allegedly firing without cause or, refusing to make accommodations for employees, do yourself a favour and document EVERYTHING. The company pension plan amounts to a savings account with the health insurance provider. There are no creature comforts and no attempts to manage employee morale - Because the company is headquartered in India with major offices in the U.S., their understanding of Canadian workplace standards and personnel isn't where it should be - Many employees are not Canadian, but here on work permits. Free coffee is the limit to what they provide, and it is expected that employees are grateful for it. It is expected that employees attend a once-a-year 'employee appreciation event' in the U.S. - That usually involves a six-plus hour bus ride one-way. Senior management tends to fudge performance and focus on screwups. Senior management loves to use the phrase "It's been brought to my attention", or "other people have said" - The end result is that it saps morale. The constant finger-pointing and endless, pointless meetings and crunch times can really wear morale down. - Hours and work environment can be quite a challenge. There is an escalating and unending demand for overtime, which becomes fruitless because priorities will suddenly change, or bottlenecks in the process means that the document you stayed up until 2 A.M. to finish is suddenly irrelevant, or will take two weeks to get reviewed. Conformity is *far* more important than opinions and suggestions. Nobody cares to hear what you have to say. Generally, management makes decisions without consulting employees. Before you decide to work here, even after reading the complaints, consider how it will look on your resume - Future employers may indeed visit this page and colour their opinion of you based on it. It is a dysfunctional corporate culture wrapped in layers of management whose priorities are constantly changing, where finger-pointing is the norm, and burnout and stress leave is common. Departing employees tell stories of 45-minute "standup" meetings at the beginning of the day that read like North Korean party meetings - Individuals are singled out and faulted for a perceived lack of progress or work quality, no matter how tenuous the reasons. In public. Among their co-workers. NIIT's inability to attract staff has meant that people leaving are simply not replaced.

- You will develop exceptional time management skills, as your direct leadership will consistently allow opportunities to practice by providing incorrect deadline dates - With a 40% staff turnover rate, there's plenty of opportunities for growth into a role that you will be outlandishly unqualified for - You will gain the confident business voice that enables you to say "This is a complete waste of time!" during any one of the several lengthy meetings you will be forced to attend on a daily basis - Hate free time? Well that's all taken care of here. You will be forced to work so much illegal overtime that you will sob uncontrollably at your very own desk - There's no question about the importance of exercise. And that's why a key component in the process includes pointing fingers at people to establish blame and take the spotlight off ourselves. Your index finger will be so strong, you won't know what to do! - Develop the thick skin required to thrive in a hostile work environment where management is constantly pitted against underlings in an ongoing verbal bloodbath about policies that even they don't understand! - Worried about performance assessments? Have no fear! Nobody reads your work anyway, just keep Microsoft Office open until they walk away and type that keyboard right into a promotion! - Forget real words; you'll get so much meaningless jargon thrown at you that you won't be able to slam your face into the keyboard without accidentally writing out one of our nonsense acronyms!

Pros

* You get some experience (not necessarily in the job you were hired for, but in some job that may be kinda related to it) * You get a paycheque (unless they mess up the system, which happens once every three months) * You get the privilege of working insane hours of overtime without getting paid for them * You get to experience ancient slavery and third-world exploitation without having to timetravel for them

Cons

Cruelty and ignorance dance hand in hand in this place. Management openly takes pride in making decisions without having any understanding of the work that production employees content developers instructional designers etc. are doing. Working 10-20 hours of unpaid overtime/week in non-management positions is minimum requirement; if you complain they tell you you should be happy to have a job at all. Guidelines and requirements and templates change every day of every month of every year. Turnover at this wretched place averages 50%/year in Canada across all levels and jobs. Management has regular screaming matches over employees heads in Hindi (so they wouldn't understand) and have nervous breakdowns in front of entire office (3 in a year). Labor regulations are routinely violated. This place makes ancient slave galley ships look like luxury resorts. Don't walk, RUN. Away from them.
