Shiny on the outside but toxic in the inside

Pros

CEO is a really good guy - too bad he is not part of the operations (he is more like a mascot) Really nice office in a good location in Vancouver. A lot of structure in terms of role descriptions and goal setting. The annual kick off meeting is a great production and lots of fun.

Cons

Leadership plays favourites and only a few are in the 'inner circle'. It's a product-led culture NOT a people-led. Every year they ask "what do you need on your team and who should you fire or hire to get there?" Zero succession planning or long-term career path. Minimal promotions to people, mostly just add responsibility and say that is career progression because you are learning new things. Many examples of wrongful terminations and super high turnover of top talent for many years across all brands (yet certain people stay forever despite poor revenue). Very toxic sketchy HR leadership in the Vancouver office. Franchise partners are very unhappy.

Not a great place to work

Pros

Some great people in the company, although many have left or were let go. PTO is good as long as you don’t get called while OOO which I have seen happen.

Cons

PREVIOUSLY was a great place to work. There was good leadership which has since changed. Now it seems leadership can’t make up their minds on what is important which trickles down as stress, pressure, and constantly changing directions. But they’ll ‘storytell’ it well enough to call it a win anyways. There were great colleagues, some of whom left, some were laid off, some are still there and many are very stressed. Loyalty used to be valued, which is still the case but only if you’re liked enough by the right people. Major politics at play. Pay is average to low but the trade off for the culture was worth it - not the case anymore. I’ve experienced and witnessed minimal career development or progression so if that’s a priority for you I don’t recommend o2e. No rrsp contributions. There is a review from January 19, 2024 ‘words of caution’ that I would emphasise as a thorough review to give a full picture of what it’s like to work here - even in 2025.
