Pros

The good things about this job are that in some positions you can manage your time to do things during the day if needed (although you will have to make it up at night). Also the company car is pretty good.

Cons

In Canada, the regional mangers do not give a crap about the mental welfare of the employees. Do not expect to be able to take vacations over 1 week! Also, expect to do work on your vacations and work overtime with it being part of the norm. We have regional meetings where people get "awards" and thank their families for putting up with never seeing them. For the money that we make, it is not worth it! Area managers (those you will report to) used to be much closer in line with what you will be responsible for. They used to help with leads for sales and helped with getting a foot in the door. Now, all they do is harass you to get more sales. In this job, the pay structure is stupid and makes it so it is stupid to get any money over your target. let me explain: If you make 100% of your target, you get 100% of your commission.. if you make 80% of your target, you get 0% of your commission. Therefore every 1 percent you are away from your target, you get 5% less commission. *this used to be 1% of your target gave 1% commission btw* Now.. lets say you have a banger year and hit it out of the park with 10% over target, you might make like 8k in commission. Well, the next year, you will have to make that 10% + 2-3% extra for inflation so 13%... lets say you made the same amount as your last years plan was, you have just lost 12k. The losses you have are way worse than the benefits. This makes it very non-incentivizing to get new business (also to mention how much work it is to prospect/sell/setup a new customer). While area managers used to be fun to work with, the new management makes them monitor the crap out of you and then consistently make 'gotcha' moments in their emails to bring up during reviews. This job has a crazy amount of turnover. It is alright to do for a short time if you have no experience.. but you will be looking for something new very shortly.
