Toxic Workplace: Stay Away!

Pros

Meeting new people is the only pro for this job.

Cons

Very low paying job. The pay is terrible, and it is not competitive at all. Coworkers gossiping. Coworkers harsh judgments as soon as you meet them. Exactly like being in high school again. Coworkers bullying others. Coworkers berating others coworkers behind their backs. A few coworkers don’t work hard so that the new hired clerks have to work extra time and work extra harder. No teamwork at all! No proper training for the work involved. No leadership at all from the manager. Very poor management. The manager should not be a manager. This place has made me realize how very ugly people can be. You will be depressed working here. It’s a very toxic workplace. It’s disgusting!

Pros

Can't think of anything.

Cons

- They treat the support team like they are worthless. - Never follow-through on a promise. - Separate cafeterias for professionals. The support team is not allowed in. - Constantly supervising and checking to see where you are and if you're working. - HR completely unethical. Confidential information always shared with other employees. The younger HR can't keep a secret and will tell others if someone is about to be fired!

Once a great place to work.

Pros

Was great in that there were many good people to work with, you learn a lot about patenting and trademarks depending on which section your posted, opportunities to work for lawyers or departments, and close proximity to the downtown core. Overall a great entry point workplace. The usual 9-5, no overtime pay and none is expected so that's good. Compensation is average but nowhere near great, and you first pay is your last pay; it wont ever go up. Though I've heard they may go through a genocidal layoff period soon, which may mean firing average paid and hiring peanut workers.

Cons

Unfortunately, the management is a little sketchy. They pretend they don't make enough money, they cheap out on Christmas parties (every year it gets worse for no reason), you get a measly $100 dollars as bonus (92 dollars AFTER TAX) for Christmas. They have limited potential, so you can't grow anywhere past what you are when you get the job, and there have been 0 raises or promotions. Don't bother with this company, you deserve better.
