Pros

We got tips and unlimited free drinks

Cons

A toxic work environment full of racism and misogyny. Open harassment of waitresses. I was encouraged to join in and was on more than one occasion hounded by other employees trying to get me to talk about their bizarre racist theories with them Management did not even read the time sheet you gave them. I was made to work until 1am on school nights routinely despite this being not on my schedule Management also was apparently so desperate for workers that they tolerated people being drunk at work, or sleeping on the job. I had to pick up a lot of slack

Pros

Flexible scheduling and young staff.

Cons

There was some cattiness, they had workers on the floor without breaks sometimes for overtime, and management was often unforgiving and unapproachable

Pros

- you get to close and finish a little earlier than in restaurants that are open till 1 or 2 am - usually you don't have to deal with drunken crowds since it's a family place - if you are a woman, you don't have to wear high heels and lots of makeup to work there - if you are a customer, you are in luck - there's tons of low-quality free stuff like terrible bread or free ice cream, and they will bend over backwards to please any customer if they're even slightly dissatisfied

Cons

- it's a lot of work, serving a single table takes forever because of the complimentary bread, soup or salad, ice cream, and free refills and free coffee that you have to bring to every table (as opposed to just bringing drinks and a meal and maybe dessert in a regular restaurant) - it's impossible to up-sell anything because of all the free stuff the customers can get - and you heavily criticized for not up-selling things - this also attracts really cheap customers who will barely tip you - management always has favorites - if you don't like children, don't work here, there's always kids screaming and demanding something - some of the furniture is pretty old and probably has mold in it - the place often smells repulsive - the tip out is high - there is no automatic gratuity added to the bill if you have a party, you have to ask for it - you frequently need to serve the large parties that will take up all of your shift, without any guarantee that you will get a tip at the end - the owner is so cheap, the back area of the restaurant is practically falling apart and crumbling, it badly needs renovations - if you aren't one of managers favorites' they will get annoyed at you for even attempting to take a sick day, will insist that you come in to work no matter what - the management is sexist, and will constantly criticize you for your appearance and will insist your uniform does not look right, if you are a female staff member and you are not wearing a skirt
