Pros

The firm as a whole has a lot of potential and if the middle management can be changed to include more educated and experienced folks, it could work.

Cons

Good employees with potential are pushed out to protect less educated and folks from some legacy companies.

Pros

1. The company pays well. 2. EDO (earn day off) program is awesome - works out to almost every second Friday off based on working 9 hours per day (1 of 8 hours is banked). 3. Very casual environment. 4. Currently there are excellent VP's working for the company (not including HR). Good leadership goes a long way. 5. Company is flexible on work hours. Good work/life balance 6. Good benefits

Cons

Where to start... 1. HR team desperately needs to go! Not too many things worse then those who condone double standards. 2. Due to the economy downturn the company is struggling to bring in new projects - this is also due to being too expensive when bidding proposals. 3. Lots of staff turnover and lots of instances of blind-siding layoffs. As well as switch & bait layoffs - i.e switching someone's currently role to someone else's role who is planned to be laid off while the other person (being laid off) has no clue. 4. Many PM's and Engineers do not follow general PM practices 5. Lack of company training and ongoing education of the company culture - i.e something is rolled out but then never really brought up again. As well as a definite clash of PMO mapping. 6. The company has gone from a smaller EPCM firm to merging with the corporate division and is currently still suffering many growing pain since 2015. The company, on many levels is nowhere near ready for these types of big adjustment and/or unwilling to accept change. 7. Facilities Manager also needs to desperately go! Not sure how it's considered productive when it takes up to 1-2 weeks to get back to people or not at all. Or dropping last requests/tasks on people expecting them to drop and stop everything they're doing just for you and just because you dropped the ball. Or getting your hair done during business hours. Or talking trash about your team and/or other employees in general. Or simply lying about various things. Fortunately not everything about the company is horrible however these types of actions from this particular individual does absolutely nothing good for company on many levels.

Pros

The technical bench strength is missing. Their turnover rate is about 30% per year. It is a revolving door, with the good ones leaving within a year, and the dead wood sticking around forever. They have several lawsuits on-going, with poor, shoddy engineering and planning, and it is not uncommon for WSP to be kicked off job sites for sheer incompetence. They prefer hiring associates rather that full time employees to lower their overhead costs. They work the young engineers to the bone, with little or no extra compensation. A company performing technical work is being led by VP's and Directors who are art graduates, blue collared technologists or accountants, so what do you expect!

Cons

WSP acquires companies with no planning or strategic direction. It is a big whale with its mouth wide open, swallowing whatever comes in. The Oracle implementation was a joke. People are still struggling. They have a hard time integrating companies and their ERP system is a big failure. They told people to stop complaining about the Oracle project. They have also insisted on people returning to the office 3 days a week, so if WFH is your thing, think again. Look at the job board, and see how many vacancies they have! There's an obvious retention problem this company is facing, and that speaks volumes about the leadership.
