Pros

The pay was good, and the hours were decent. The benefits were great as well.

Cons

Toxic working environment. I quit because I stood against a supervisor who was sexually harassing one of the girls I worked with. He got together with other guys and made my life hell until I quit.

Pros

With all of the retirements coming up, there is plenty of opportunity for new hires to move up quickly. The Company supports employees with any training they need to do their job and advance. Before hiring someone from the outside, West Fraser will promotes from within first. West Fraser doesn't hire and fire, so there is a lot of job stability, even when market conditions are tough. The pay is competitive and the benefits are very good with a great pension program that is almost unheard of these days. The company treats employees fairly.

Cons

West Fraser runs lean and doesn't over-hire, so often employees have more than one job to do and it can get overwhelming. It takes a while to get used to the "frugal" nature West Fraser. The technology in the Mills is incredible, but the computer systems are old and tough to adapt to if you're used to using a good computer with current systems.

Pros

Only pros is that we're unionized with benefits.

Cons

They do little / nothing for employees moral. They preach safety all the time but heaven forbid if it interupts production when an employee is trying to do their job safely.
